The long-awaited and highly-anticipated reunion happened today with la llegada (the arrival) of the CASPers. (I know you're probably all wanting an update on all the events of Nicaragua from the last week, but that'll just have to wait for another entry. I only have so much energy right now, and the Nica update will take a bit of collecting of thoughts and organization in order to make it concise and easy-to-read... just for you, Bubby.)
The reunion was that with the Whitworth Central America Study Program (CASP) students, who have been traveling through Guatemala, Honduras, and arrived in CR on the day that we left for Nicaragua. The most wonderful thing about today (amidst the bustling of preparations for the group after a group of 30 women left at midday) was watching their bus pull in and seeing friendly faces peering out at me and Em who were basically running from the ponds to greet them all. Michael LeRoy (Whitworth VP and Dean of Academic Affairs/prof for the CR stint of CASP) hopped off the bus, proudly displaying his "tattooed" bicep from under his tee shirt sleeve, and then Taylor Faranda flew out the bus behind him and tackled me with the best hug ever. Thus ensued the (ever-so-wonderful) onslaught of embraces and smiles and laughter amidst strong, backpacker, hippie body odor from days on the coast in Punta Mona with (obviously) little time spent bathing. Getting them into rooms with hot showers and food in their bellies and just beginning to share stories was just so enjoyable and going out for drinks with the CASP TAs Travis and Danielle tonight was great too! So much loveliness in life right now!
Well it's off to bed for me, with an early morning tomorrow and a long, but enjoyable week ahead. I'll try to post a resumen (summary) of the Nicaragua adventures and experiences soon. There is just so much to share and things here are so wonderfully busy! Sorry this post was a boring one to read (no exciting visuals or thrilling tales; you'll just have to imagine my bubbling excitement and pure joy in today's encounters).
