This evening, we here at the CRC have welcomed 51 members of the Whitworth Wind Symphony, plus 4 professors and faculty members from the Whitworth Music Department. They will spend the next week touring and playing around the country, and returning to the CRC during evenings. Tonight at dinner upon arrival, noting the strength of our winds up here on our mountain campus, the Whitworth Wind Symphony Director, Rich, made a joke about "Wind" being the group's middle name and noting that they've already embraced the environment in our cloud forest microclimate!
This weekend, we are also officially dedicating the Whitworth Costa Rica Center with its Inauguration. Sunday afternoon, we will host around 75 Whitworth students, some of their parents who are visiting as well, 15-20 Whitworth faculty and staff members, many members from our Board of Trustees, Brian Benzel (Vice President of Finance and Administration), Michael Le Roy (Provost & Exec Vice President of Whitworth), Beck Taylor (President of Whitworth), all our host families, internship worksite supervisors, various influential members of our Costa Rican community, fabulous artists and musicians, friends, and others!
Today has been busy, bustling with the excitement of artists setting up their work around campus, bringing color and style to our walls around the academic building in the comedor (dining hall), rotunda, entrance, and hallways. Students were here taking classes, parents were visiting, goteras (leaks) were being patched and a new Costa Rican flag was restored to its position on the flag pole (after the last one was torn to shreds by the pure force of the wind and weather). We are gearing up for a FULL weekend and next 10 days ahead!

And today is the last day of our CLEANSE! I'll update tomorrow with an overview of the week for those who have been inquiring about it.
