¡¡ALARMA!!

Just two short hours into my deep sleep after turning in for the night (after a partido de fútbol, some knocks on our door for a sprained ankle and a lockout), the fire alarm’s blare and blinking-flashing glare startled me to semi-conciousness. There’s your farewell sendoff, jefe Michael Le Roy (he's been visiting for the last couple of days, for the first time in six months, and leaves for the airport in about three hours).

Lindy and the three of us 24/7s reunited for the first fire alarm shut-off pow-wow of 2012 (we thought this was resolved a couple months ago when the system was reset during a home visit and servicing from the alarm company!?). We really missed being jolted back into awakeness at odd hours of the morning when we have been having especially long days and most need to recharge our batteries with continuous, deep sleep.

Alarm reset (switching the breaker off and back on does the trick of eliminating the flashing lights, even once the alarm has been silenced). Searching for where there might actually be "SMOKE" in a "BODEGA" (closet/pantry/storage area). The indicator tends to invent reasons for making noise.

When all was said and done, in the words of Bean as we padded back in bare and slippered feet to our room under the crystal-clear, bright and twinkly-starry skies, “At least we know that in the case of a REAL fire, 34 of our 35 Honors Freshmen and the visiting professors would sleep through an alarm,” –or at least not respond or come out of their rooms. Maybe they’re too into the “Pura Vida, Relax” mindset and are really livin’ up this lifestyle. Cool.

Now back to sleep to prepare for another day in the life at the CRC.
