Pre-season warm up to rainy season?

After one and a half weeks of "summer" (definition: no horizontal precipitation carried on the constant 40-50mph winds, strong sunny rays, heating up the day to 80ºF), I think rainy season is trying to edge its way in! The past couple of days, the sounds of thunder roll up from the valley in the afternoon, as the incoming cooler air collides with the hot air of the morning. Today and yesterday, we had lightning included.
After a good, 10-minute downpour yesterday, the brown was starting
to look more green?? Or maybe it was just the lighting.
If you look closely, you can see the steam evaporating off of the pond,
just minutes after the downpour subsided. This is what contributes to
the warm, heavy, muggy feel after a hot morning, when the afternoon
rains storm in and wet the hot ground.
The onset of storms generate electric excitement amongst the students, eager to experience the deluge of high volumes of water that fat raindrops bring. They've heard stories of streets turning into rivers, waterfalls appearing out of nowhere, and the even more-frequent power outages. Part of me is excited for rainy season again; I love a good storm. While the power going out gets old, it is a good excuse when the internet goes down and we cannot get any work done on our computers to curl up with a book, bake, or work out to some good indoor Zumba. Also, I love the hot, sunny mornings that are characteristic of rainy season.

However, in the last couple of years, the weather has been anything but characteristic. 2010-2011 brought an unbearable rainy season, followed by a late spring/summer (a.k.a. the less-rainy season). Then last November through December, which is usually the end to the rainy season (which begins typically in May), we got the gusty winds. And they well over-stayed their welcome (wait, were they ever really welcomed??). This January-March, the weather was intolerably windy and cold. We've had virtually no summer (it should have begun in mid-January!), with the exception of a couple days here and there, and then the last week that tricked us into believing the summer was just late. Usually Semana Santa (Holy Week, which is this week) is sunny and hot, and in the weeks following, it is the weather pattern for rainy season to creep in. Looks like we're in it for the rain. Locals are baffled by irregular weather patterns, and we are just along for the ride.

But, as long as there is no strong wind and in-the-middle-of-the-clouds, horizontal-precipitation action, I'm okay with the daily afternoon downpours, if we get our warmth and sun in the morning.

TO EVERYTHING, THERE IS A SEASON
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
~Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
