Exciting changes

Things happen around the CRC and change so quickly! A couple exciting developments to report.

Well, they're exciting for us since we've been waiting for a long time and really value improvements... and since the ones that we need the most also cost the most (and we don't have the budgetary funds allocated to do those types of works very often).

Exciting thing #1: Pavimento! We have a new layer of road being put into place in our callecito (the little road that climbs the mountain up to campus at the end of the main road)!
Starting to lay the patchwork early yesterday morning (12/19), by hand and roller.
Work continued today down to the partes más feas (hideous potholed areas).
We will have a smooth drive up and down our callecito, for a while we hope!
Exciting thing #2: Cortinas! We now have blackout blinds (or rather, roll-up shades) in our Aula #1 (the small classroom), and super cool one-way transparent blinds for the Fun Times Room, so that Bean and I don't have to put up umbrellas to be able to see our computer screen when the sunlight glares in...
How Bean taught me to shield my screen on bright days (back in last January).
So I began using umbrellas to shield my workspace as well...
And when it came time to watch movies, classes couldn't use the classroom
(too bright to see the projection!) So we had to set up in the darker dungeons of dorm rooms
(see above and below)

But now, we have these amazing roll up shades...
Chic blackout curtains in the small classroom (cafe color matches the interior decor)...
...and fancy one-way transparent blinds that filter the light from directly shining into our office
(we can see out, but people can't see in!)
Soooo happy for the little changes in life that make things easier (i.e. transportation is easier on our vehicles now, and the ride is less bumpy, and we can see our technology displayed with more ease now!).
